Among the more interesting revelations in the article was the statement that leading food companies plan to remove all GMO ingredients from their products (rather than label them with the skull and crossbones of "produced with GMOs" if the California Ballot Initiative passes on November 6th. Polls show that despite fierce resistance from Monsanto and the Grocery Manufacturers Association, 90% of American consumers support mandatory labeling of GMO's
The Truth Is Out on Genetically Modified Foods

This week the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called on "Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks." They called for a moratorium on GM foods, long-term independent studies, and labeling. AAEM's position paper stated, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food, including: infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system."
They conclude, "There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation," as defined by recognized scientific criteria. "The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies."
More and more doctors are already prescribing GM-free diets. Dr. Amy Dean, a Michigan internal medicine specialist, and board member of AAEM says, "I strongly recommend patients eat strictly non-genetically modified foods." Ohio allergist, Dr. John Boyles, says, "I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it."
Dr. Jennifer Armstrong, President of AAEM, says, "Physicians are probably seeing the effects in their patients, but need to know how to ask the right questions." World-renowned biologist, Pushpa M. Bhargava, goes one step further. After reviewing more than 600 scientific journals, he concludes that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a major contributor to the sharply deteriorating health of Americans.
Pregnant women and babies at risk
Among the population, biologist David Schubert of the Salk Institute warns, "children are the most likely to be adversely effected by toxins and other dietary problems," related to GM foods. He says without adequate studies, the children become "the experimental animals."
The experience of actual GM-fed experimental animals is scary. When GM soy was fed to female rats, most of their babies died within three weeks-compared to a 10% death rate among the control group fed natural soy. The GM-fed babies were also smaller and later had problems getting pregnant.
When male rats were fed GM soy their testicles actually changed color-from the normal pink to dark blue. Mice fed GM soy had altered young sperm. Even the embryos of GM fed parent mice had significant changes in their DNA. In an Austrian government study, mice fed GM corn had fewer babies, which were also smaller than normal.
Reproductive problems also plague livestock. Investigations in the state of Haryana, India revealed that most buffalo that ate GM cottonseed had complications such as: premature deliveries, abortions, infertility, and prolapsed uteruses. Many calves died. In the US, about two-dozen farmers reported thousands of pigs became sterile after consuming certain GM corn varieties. Some had false pregnancies; others gave birth to bags of water. Cows and bulls also became infertile when fed the same corn.
In the US population, the incidence of low birth weight babies, infertility, and infant mortality are all escalating.
Plants designed to produce toxins
GM corn and cotton are engineered to produce their own built-in pesticide in every cell. When bugs bite the plant, the poison splits open their stomach and kills them. Biotech companies claim that the pesticide, called Bt-produced from soil bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis - has a history of safe use, since organic farmers and others use Bt bacteria spray for natural insect control. Genetic engineers insert Bt genes into corn and cotton, so the plants do the killing.
The Bt-toxin produced in GM plants however, is thousands of times more concentrated than natural Bt spray; (it) is designed to be more toxic; has properties of an allergen; and unlike the spray; cannot be washed off the plant.
Moreover, studies confirm that even the less toxic natural bacterial spray is harmful. When dispersed by plane to kill gypsy moths in the Pacific Northwest, about 500 people reported allergy or flu-like symptoms. Some had to go to the emergency room.
The exact same symptoms from handling Bt cotton are now being reported by farm workers throughout India. In 2008, based on medical records, the Sunday India reported: "Victims of itching have increased massively this year . . . related to BT cotton farming."
GMOs provoke immune reactions
AAEM states, "Multiple animal studies show significant immune dysregulation," including increase in cytokines, which are "associated with asthma, allergy, and inflammation"-all on the rise in the US.
According to GM food safety expert, Dr. Arpad Pusztai, changes in the immune status of GM animals are "a consistent feature of all the studies." Even Monsanto's own research showed significant immune system changes in rats fed Bt corn. A November 2008 (study) by the Italian government also found that mice have an immune reaction to Bt corn.
GM soy and corn each contain two new proteins with allergenic properties; GM soy has up to seven times more trypsin inhibitor - a known soy allergen, and skin prick tests show some people react to GM, but not to non-GM soy. Soon after GM soy was introduced to the UK, soy allergies skyrocketed by 50%. Perhaps the US epidemic of food allergies and asthma is a casualty of genetic manipulation.
Animals dying in large numbers
In India, animals graze on cotton plants after harvest. But when shepherds let sheep graze on Bt cotton plants, thousands died. Post mortems showed severe irritation and black patches in both intestines and liver (as well as enlarged bile ducts). Investigators said preliminary evidence "strongly suggests that the sheep mortality was due to a toxin. . . . most probably Bt-toxin." In a small follow-up feeding study by the Deccan Development Society, all sheep fed Bt cotton plants died within 30 days; those that grazed on natural cotton plants remained healthy.
In a small village in Andhra Pradesh, buffalo grazed on cotton plants for eight years without incident. On January 3rd, 2008, the buffalo grazed on Bt cotton plants for the first time. All 13 were sick the next day; all died within 3 days.
Bt corn was also implicated in the deaths of cows in Germany, and horses, water buffaloes, and chickens in The Philippines.
In lab studies, twice the number of chickens fed Liberty Link corn died; 7 of 20 rats fed a GM tomato developed bleeding stomachs; another 7 of 40 died within two weeks. Monsanto's own study showed evidence of poisoning in major organs of rats fed Bt corn, according to top French toxicologist G. E. Seralini.
Worst finding of all-GMOs remain inside of us
The only published human feeding study revealed what may be the most dangerous problem from GM foods. The gene inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function. This means that long after we stop eating GMOs, we may still have potentially harmful GM proteins produced continuously inside of us. Put more plainly, eating a corn chip produced from Bt corn might transform our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories, possibly for the rest of our lives.
When evidence of gene transfer is reported at medical conferences around the US, doctors often respond by citing the huge increase of gastrointestinal problems among their patients over the last decade. GM foods might be colonizing the gut flora of North Americans.
Warnings by government scientists ignored and denied
Scientists at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had warned about all these problems even in the early 1990s. According to documents released from a lawsuit, the scientific consensus at the agency was that GM foods were inherently dangerous, and might create hard-to-detect allergies, poisons, gene transfer to gut bacteria, new diseases, and nutritional problems.
They urged their superiors to require rigorous long-term tests. But the White House had ordered the agency to promote biotechnology and the FDA responded by recruiting Michael Taylor, Monsanto's former attorney, to head up the formation of GMO policy. That policy, which is in effect today, denies knowledge of scientists' concerns and declares that no safety studies on GMOs are required. It is up to Monsanto and the other biotech companies to determine if their foods are safe. Mr. Taylor later became Monsanto's vice president.
Dangerously few studies, untraceable diseases
AAEM states, "GM foods have not been properly tested" and "pose a serious health risk." Not a single human clinical trial on GMOs has been published. A 2007 review of published scientific literature on the "potential toxic effects/health risks of GM plants" revealed, "that experimental data are very scarce." The author concludes his review by asking, "Where is the scientific evidence showing that GM plants/food are toxicologically safe, as assumed by the biotechnology companies?"
Famed Canadian geneticist, David Suzuki, answers, "The experiments simply haven't been done and we now have become the guinea pigs." He adds, "Anyone that says, 'Oh, we know that this is perfectly safe,' I say is either unbelievably stupid or deliberately lying."
Dr. Schubert points out, "If there are problems, we will probably never know because the cause will not be traceable and many diseases take a very long time to develop." If GMOs happen to cause immediate and acute symptoms with a unique signature, perhaps then we might have a chance to trace the cause.
This is precisely what happened during a US epidemic in the late 1980s. The disease was fast acting, deadly, and caused a unique measurable change in the blood-but it still took more than four years to identify that an epidemic was even occurring. By then it had killed about 100 Americans and caused 5,000-10,000 people to fall sick or become permanently disabled. It was caused by a genetically engineered brand of a food supplement called L-tryptophan.
If other GM foods are contributing to the rise of autism, obesity, diabetes, asthma, cancer, heart disease, allergies, reproductive problems, or any other common health problem now plaguing Americans, we may never know. In fact, since animals fed GMOs had such a wide variety of problems, susceptible people may react to GM food with multiple symptoms. It is therefore telling that in the first nine years after the large-scale introduction of GM crops in 1996, the incidence of people with three or more chronic diseases nearly doubled, from 7% to 13%.
To help identify if GMOs are causing harm, the AAEM asks their "members, the medical community, and the independent scientific community to gather case studies potentially related to GM food consumption and health effects, begin epidemiological research to investigate the role of GM foods on human health, and conduct safe methods of determining the effect of GM foods on human health."
Citizens need not wait for the results before taking the doctors advice to avoid GM foods. People can stay away from anything with soy or corn derivatives, cottonseed, canola oil, and sugar from GM sugar beets - unless it says organic or "non-GMO." There is a pocket Non-GMO Shopping Guide, co-produced by the Institute for Responsible Technology and the Center for Food Safety, which is available as a download, as well as in natural food stores and in many doctors' offices.
If even a small percentage of people choose non-GMO brands, the food industry will likely respond as they did in Europe-by removing all GM ingredients. Thus, AAEM's non-GMO prescription may be a watershed for the US food supply. (End of article from the Institute for Responsible Technology)
What foods are genetically modified and should be avoided?
Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com reports that corn, soy, some varieties of tomatoes, cottonseed oil, Hawaiian papayas and certain potatoes, sugar beets, crookneck squash, some varieties of zucchini, rennet, and the artificial sweetener aspartame (NutraSweet) are all genetically modified.
Corn is one of the worst offenders with the Bt toxin inside. Meat, including GMO corn fed chickens, beef, and pork will contain the Bt toxin and have serious health effects for the American consumer. Pet food also is loaded with GMO corn causing tens of thousands of pets to die of kidney failure each year. By the way, there are over 90,000 people in the United States waiting for a kidney transplant. What could possibly be causing that? To avoid GMO foods, buy organic, non-GMO foods, grassfed meats and heirloom vegetables.

Bill Clinton - a Vegan
Former President Bill Clinton, in a recent interview (June 3rd) on Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN disclosed that because of his tendency to develop clogged arteries and his desire to live longer, he has become a vegetarian (vegan). His appearance has improved and he looks trim. His mind is certainly as sharp as it ever was. He was not specific on the interview as to what he actually eats although he says he eats salmon about once a week.
Vegetarian diets often consist of a combination of whole grains and legumes along with vegetables. Rice, beans, and a salad would be one such combination.
After two heart attacks since leaving office, and double bypass surgery in 2004, Bill Clinton, the former US President says "he consumes no meat, no dairy, no eggs, almost no oil." In an interview in the New York Times, he stated:
"I like the vegetables, the fruits, the beans, the stuff I eat now," Clinton told Sanjay Gupta of CNN. At the conclusion of his interview he added: "But the main thing is, we can't let these kids grow up to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents, and that's what's happening." It is noteworthy that on his vegan diet, Bill Clinton has lost 24 lbs.

It's accepted that fluoride can also damage bones, but the condition of teeth and bones may be the least of our worries. There have now been 26 published studies that indicate an association between fairly modest exposure to fluoride and lowered IQ in children. The EPA includes fluoride on its list of "Chemicals with Substantial Evidence of Developmental Neurotoxicity." The prestigious National Research Council's 2006 reported that fluoride, even in small doses, can harm the thyroid gland, kidney patients, and avid tap water drinkers."

I want to share with others my first experience of using the San Damiano Water, along with some other true stories. I use two doctors, an internist, who does all my tests, and a Chinese Medical doctor, who only practices oriental medicine. I am no longer on prescription medicines nor any form of regular pain medication.
Both doctors felt that I had clogged arteries. At the age of 67, I was worried because they felt I could have a stroke.
After receiving my first bottle of the water, one evening, I said the prayers and put 3 drops on my tongue. I instantly felt fuzziness in both my carotid arteries that started at the base of my neck and worked its way up to the top of my neck for about 30 seconds or less. It was painless. I continue to take the water daily. I am now 70 years old.
I should also mention that my Chinese doctor said she has never seen anyone with so much vitality. She is anxious to try the water because she doesn't think the vitality is due to anything she does.
I also have a 19-year cat named Sampson who has been in many battles. Eventually he acquired a feline version of HIV called FIV. His health was seriously compromised from it. In addition, his left hip is extremely deteriorated. Sometimes, he cannot walk. I gave him one ml of San Damiano water through a syringe. Sampson now walks better as a result of the water.

Hi. This is Jose from Sao Paulo, Brazil who was in contact with you as far back as July 2001. I was referred to in your Immune Restoration Handbook 2nd ed. I appreciate your attention in conveying to the HCV community my early good results with the high selenium intake approach that resulted in a drastic viral load reduction back in 2001. Since then I have tried to maintain my selenium intake around 200 mcg only and that has resulted in keeping my viral load (VL) at Log 4 in all those years.
As you know VL makes more sense when compared on a Log basis since in terms of VL a reading of 200,000 is basically comparable to a reading of 400,000 for instance. A 1 Log reduction would make sense in terms of VL reduction while a 100 or 200 thousand reduction would not. This is because the inherently "inaccuracy" of the PCR method which depends on a series of multiplications steps and a slight mistake in one of the steps, specially at the beginning, keeps being multiplied resulting in a greater or smaller number.
After reading your book I intend to try a new run of high selenium treatment this time using mostly natural selenium sources. Thank you in advance for this very interesting suggestion. I intend to use 10 sterilized Brazil Nuts per day plus from 200 to 300 mcg of selenocysteine. Taking selenium keeps VL within "workable" levels, even though there is no relationship between low VL and progression to liver cirrhosis.
This time I will include Coconut Oil, Fish Oil, Whey Protein, and an Autohemotherapy with blood serum after blood centrifugation. IM injections of 1 to 2 ml, two times per week. I will also use silymarin, lipoic acid, naringin, and probiotics in sizeable quantities.
I cannot stress the importance of having blessed persons like you that have devoted your lives to the task of reminding us to keep on fighting no matter what. I have to confess that for some unknown mechanism I have just neglected my health in those last 4 to 5 years. I promise to keep you informed of the outcome of all my personal experiences.

Dear Sir, Being diagnosed in 1997 as being infected with HCV I have spent most of my time ever since studying this resilient chronic infection. Due to the sub type being 1b and knowing the potential hazards of the so called official therapy with Interferon and other toxic antiviral drugs I decided to pursue a possible cure using more natural approaches. I tried whatever one can name of in these last fifteen years sometimes with partial results like when I first tried high selenium intake back in 1998. However, after all those long years of experimenting I am glad to inform that it seems that I have finally made it.
My basic protocol today consists of the following: High EPA/DHA Fish Oil to promote a healthy Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio. This therapy will kick in only after two to three months. Your body will no longer be in the inflammatory mode and will be much more able to fight the inflammation. Several Th2 cytokines will no longer be produced with this proper ratio. Try to add tocotrienols to decrease Omega 3 oxidation inside the body.
Weekly phebotomies to decrease body iron stores from 900ng/ml down to below 100 ug/ml. Without lowering iron levels there is little chance of resolving this chronic infection. Volume removed was from 60 to 180ml per week being hemoglobin always above 12.5 and Hematocrit above 40%. Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil since it also has anti viral properties and it enhances EPA/DHA absorption. 25-HydroxiVitamin D (D3). Vitamin D has documented anti HCV viral effects and also increases the body's ability to fight any viral infections - I use 7,000 IU per day.
Di Hydro Quercetin dissolved in Coconut Oil since it is water insoluble - 500 mg two times a day. Naringenin, a compound analogue to Quercetin but soluble in water - 300 mg 3 times a day. Thymic Extract - Thymomodulin 80 mg 2 times per day. Fulvic acids dissolved in Apple Cider Vinegar prepared by myself. Quantity per dose still to be determined but not so important due to low toxicity of fulvic acids. Use only humates that are analyzed and have no detectable heavy metals. One tablespoon 3 times per day.
If anyone would be interested in preparing this solution please get in contact. After just 18 days of including fulvic acid, my viral load went down from log 6 to log 2. Last blood work showed only 256 IU/ml. Liver enzymes are decreasing rapidly but still slightly above normal. Needless to say that my overall well being is great. FDA v. Vital Health et al - the final hearing is now set for July 17th, 10am
Milwaukee, WI: update. The date of April 20th that was set on Friday, Jan 13, 2012 was delayed by the judge after I filed a 17-page statement on April 16th seeking to withdraw my plea agreement of Jan 13th and have the case transferred to a different judge for a trial. US Attorney Gordon Giampietro asked for time and responded to my letter with a "brief" that rephrased my letter into two motions - one to withdraw the plea agreement and the other to transfer it to a United States District Judge. In a decision that followed about a week later, the judge denied both my requests and rescheduled the final hearing for July 3rd, then it was changed again last week to July 17th.
In my letter of April 16th, I cited 5 reasons why the plea agreement should be nullified. They were -
1. The reluctance of local doctors to get involved and offer expert testimony
Excerpt: "In spite of the lack of funds, in December 2011, I wrote and phoned three local doctors who practice both conventional as well as nutritional and complementary therapies and asked to meet with them to discuss the possibility of their reviewing scientific research and their fees for testifying in my case. Not one of the three doctors answered my letters or returned my phone calls. I could not even get a conversation started with any of them. I concluded that the three doctors did not want to get involved and that fear of offending the federal government, specifically the Food and Drug Administration, was probably a factor.
2. Exculpatory evidence from the U.S. National Library of Medicine denied
Excerpt: "The first was the government's request for jury instructions that only allowed for randomized controlled human trials to be considered by the jury. The second is that of those randomized controlled trials; the only ones allowed for consideration by the jury would be those that had exactly duplicated the same mix of ingredients as the defendant's products. The third condition was that the defendant's actual products or exact replicas had to be published in a peer reviewed medical Journal. The 4th restriction was that any medical professional that would give testimony in support of the defendant's products, which was based on their own clinical experience and individual case reports, would be excluded from consideration by the jury. "
3. Court Case Citations wrongly applied to the defendant's products
Excerpt: "A fundamental error of government attorneys was to cite court cases and transfer the legal opinions of these cases to the 4 products of the defendant, knowing that the defendant's products have an entirely different material composition than those in the cases they cited. One case cited by the government was based on the manufacture of generic drugs. Generic drugs are drugs by composition and often have expired patents. The government does not classify edible foods and herbs as drugs by their composition.
"The government believes, without providing any scientific evidence to support their position, that the combinations of the defendant's products would render them useless for therapeutic purposes simply because they are used in combination with each other and not offered as a single ingredient. The government supports this theory by legal opinions and not by science."
4. Excluding wireless computer searches at the NLM.
Excerpt: "At a meeting to discuss the Joint Pretrial Report on Jan 10th, 2012, US Attorney Gordon Giampietro asked me why I had listed a wireless computer on the list of items I planned to bring to the trial. I told him I planned to do wireless searches at the US National Library OF Medicine (PubMed Central) to show the jury the scientific abstracts I read and the information I used from them and shared with my customers. The US Attorney told me he would oppose allowing me to do wireless computer searches at the US National Library of Medicine at the jury trial.
This is another attempt to prevent the jury from evaluating for themselves exculpatory scientific evidence, In the Pretrial Report for Jury Instructions, the FDA, through the local US Attorney, set the conditions and scientific bar so high as to direct the jury to exclude the entire US. National Library of Medicine from consideration by the jury as a source of expert opinion that could support a "reasonable doubt" acquittal on 3 of the 4 charges.
5. Deterioration of the defendant's personal health
Excerpt: "The final factor that supported a plea agreement was a deterioration of the defendant's personal health that resulted from the stress of this case as a pro se defendant. This stress contributed to chronic insomnia along with a persistent chest and head cold of 3 months duration that resulted in laryngitis."
In addition, I cited an email threat from the US Attorney on Nov 1, 2011, to seek maximum penalties if I refused to agree to the plea offer.
Basically I accused the government of stacking all the cards in their legal deck in their favor and against the defendant. I have decided not to file any more motions before the court. An appeal to the 7th circuit Court of Appeals will follow the final hearing on July 3rd.
