A long term French study (24 months) finds Monsanto's "Roundup" weed killer and genetically modified corn "NK603" causes cancer, kidney and liver damage in lab rats

In photo above is shown cancerous tumors resulting from the use of Roundup weed killer and Monsanto's GMO corn

by Conrad LeBeau

9/19/2012 France: A news conference held by researchers from the University of Caen discussed the research results published in an article on Sept 11, 2012, in The Food and Chemical Toxicology Journal. The study by Seralini et al was published in the International Journal of Food Toxicity. Mike Adams article contains several shocking photos of large tumors that developed in rats fed GMO corn and trace amounts of Monsanto's herbicide Roundup. The photos were taken from the Seralini study.

An abstract found at PubMed, part of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) titled Long Term Toxicity of a Roundup Herbicide and a Roundup-Tolerant Genetically Modified Maize briefly summarizes the two year study done by Seralini, Gilles-Eric, Clair E, Mesnage R, Gress S, Defarge N, Malatesta M, Hennequin D and de Vendomos JS. The study was done at University of Caen, Institute of Biology, CRIIGEN and Risk Pole, MRSH-CNRS, EA 2608, Esplanade de la Paix, Caen Cedex 14032, France.

The original article by Seralini et al is copyrighted by Elsevier, the publisher. The full text article can be purchased though a link at PubMed for $31.50. (In my opinion, the Obama administration is suppressing public access to scientific knowledge at the NLM by allowing such hefty fees to be charged for full text articles, but that is another issue for another day). The Daily News from the UK also reported on this study.

The following abstact is reprinted from Pubmed at the U.S. Nat'l Library of Medicine

Long Term Toxicity of a Roundup Herbicide and a Roundup Tolerant Genetically Modified Maize

by Seralini, Gilles-Eric, Clair E, Mesnage R, Gress S, Defarge N, Malatesta M, Hennequin D and de Vendomos JS. The study was done at University of Caen, Institute of Biology, CRIIGEN and Risk Pole, MRSH-CNRS, EA 2608, Esplanade de la Paix, Caen Cedex 14032, France.

"The health effects of a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize (from 11% in the diet), cultivated with or without Roundup, and Roundup alone (from 0.1ppb in water), were studied 2 years in rats. In females, all treated groups died 2-3 times more than controls, and more rapidly.

"This difference was visible in 3 male groups fed GMOs. All results were hormone and sex dependent, and the pathological profiles were comparable. Females developed large mammary tumors almost always more often than and before controls, the pituitary was the second most disabled organ; the sex hormonal balance was modified by GMO and Roundup treatments. In treated males, liver congestions and necrosis were 2.5-5.5 times higher.

"This pathology was confirmed by optic and transmission electron microscopy. Marked and severe kidney nephropathies were also generally 1.3-2.3 greater. Males presented 4 times more large palpable tumors than controls which occurred up to 600 days earlier.

"Biochemistry data confirmed very significant kidney chronic deficiencies; for all treatments and both sexes, 76% of the altered parameters were kidney related. These results can be explained by the non linear endocrine-disrupting effects of Roundup, but also by the over expression of the transgene in the GMO and its metabolic consequences."

The Grocer

The Grocer is a popular British publication led with the headline "Monsanto Roundup Weedkiller and GM maize Implicated in "Shocking" New Cancer Study"

The article stated -

"Led by Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini, the researchers studied 10 groups, each containing 10 male and 10 female rats, over their normal lifetime. Three groups were given Roundup - developed by Monsanto - in their drinking water at three different levels consistent with exposure through the food chain from crops sprayed with the herbicide.

"Three groups were fed diets containing different proportions of Roundup resistant maize at 11%, 22% and 33%. Three groups were given both Roundup and the GM maize at the same three dosages. The control group was fed an equivalent diet with no Roundup or NK603 containing 33% of non-GM maize.

"In the first ever study to examine the long-term effects of Monsanto's Roundup weed-killer, or the NK603 Roundup-resistant GM maize also developed by Monsanto, scientists found that rats exposed to even the smallest amounts, developed mammary tumors and severe liver and kidney damage as early as four months in males, and seven months for females, compared with 23 and 14 months respectively for a control group.

"This research shows an extraordinary number of tumors developing earlier and more aggressively - particularly in female animals. I am shocked by the extreme negative health impacts," said Dr Michael Antoniou, molecular biologist at King's College London."

The peer-reviewed study found that rats fed a diet containing NK603 GMO corn, or given water containing Roundup at levels permitted, died earlier than rats fed a standard diet.

Shock findings in new GMO study: Rats fed lifetime of GM corn grow horrifying tumors, 70% of females die early

He states: "Eating genetically modified corn (GM corn) and consuming trace levels of Monsanto's Roundup chemical fertilizer caused rats to develop horrifying tumors, widespread organ damage, and premature death. That's the conclusion of a shocking new study that looked at the long-term effects of consuming Monsanto's genetically modified corn.

The study has been deemed "the most thorough research ever published into the health effects of GM food crops and the herbicide Roundup on rats." News of the horrifying findings is spreading like wildfire across the internet, with even the mainstream media seemingly in shock over the photos of rats with multiple grotesque tumors... tumors so large the rats even had difficulty breathing in some cases. GMOs may be the new thalidomide.

Findings from the peer-reviewed study

Mike Adams reports on the shocking findings from this study:

1. Up to 50% of males and 70% of females suffered premature death.
2. Rats that drank trace amounts of Roundup (at levels legally allowed in the water supply) had a 200% to 300% increase in large tumors.
3. Rats fed GM corn and traces of Roundup suffered severe organ damage including liver damage and kidney damage.

"The study fed these rats NK603, the Monsanto variety of GM corn that's grown across North America and widely fed to animals and humans. This is the same corn that's in your corn-based breakfast cereal, corn tortillas, and corn snack chips."

Cancer is now the leading cause of death among Hispanics and Latinos who just also happen to consume more GMO corn than other ethnic groups

9/17/2012. The American Cancer Society reported that in 2009 more Hispanics died from cancer than from heart disease. The ACS reported that -

"In 2009, the latest year for which numbers are available, 29,935 Hispanic Americans died of cancer compared to 29,611 who died from heart disease."

The ACS also states it expects that deaths from cancer among Hispanics will increase in 2012 to 112,800 new cases of cancer and expect 33,200 deaths from cancer. ACS did not mention the consumption of GMO corn and a possible link to increases on cancer among Hispanics.

However, in light of the new study on rats in France and the obvious result of an increase in cancer in rats, it is plausible that ethnic groups that consume GMO corn and trace amounts of Roundup herbicide will also have premature deaths, damage to liver and kidneys and an increased death rate from cancer.

Mexicans, Hispanics, and Latinos are known for their love of corn-based products. Unknown to these consumers is the amount of GMO corn being used that also contains Roundup in their tacos and other corn products.

No one at the FDA is telling them to stop their consumption of GMO corn and Roundup herbicide, and the health risks associated with such continuous exposure. Could it be because Michael Taylor, an attorney who runs the food division at the FDA, came from Wall St where he was vice-president of Monsanto Corp?

What kind of hold does Monsanto Corp have over the White House?

Alliance for Natural Health reports that in 2008, candidate Obama supported the labeling of GMO food. Since his election, Pres. Obama has been silent on this issue. In public appearances, he claims to stand up to Wall St. It takes more than words, Mr. President. You can start house cleaning at the FDA by firing Michael Taylor and replace him with an honest public servant. Why is the mass media not talking about this issue?

Stop Syngenta's Insecticidal 'Bt' Genetically Engineered Corn

Four Reasons to avoid Non-Organic Corn and Processed Foods Containing Corn - quoted from Organic Consumers

1. GMO "Bt" corn produces its own insecticide. It kills bugs, bad bugs and good bugs alike, including beneficial insects like honeybees, ladybugs and butterflies.

2. Inhaled Bt has caused severe allergies in farmworkers while GMO Bt corn pollen has reportedly killed peasants in the Philippines. Besides setting off serious allergies in farmworkers inhaling Bt, in 2003, five people living around Bt corn fields in the Philippines died and dozens became ill with fever and respiratory, intestinal, and skin problems. Subsequently, 38 individuals had their blood analyzed and all were positive for antibodies specific to Cry1Ab, suggesting an immune reaction to genetically engineered Bt toxins.

3. GMO Bt corn livestock feed kills animals. In 1996, Syngenta abruptly terminated a US Bt corn feeding study after four cows died in two days. Later, Syngenta paid a German farmer 40,000 euros in partial compensation for dead cows, decreased milk yields, and vet costs incurred during authorized field tests from 1997 to 2002.

4. More than 80% of women and their unborn children have GMO Bt toxins in their blood! Most Americans probably have no idea how much corn they're eating, but with all the high-fructose corn syrup, corn oil, and food from animals raised on corn, it's little wonder that so many of us have GMO Bt toxins coursing through our blood.

Please, encourage everyone you know to stop eating non-organic corn and help get this stuff banned - or at least labeled!

chanca piedraChanca Piedra (Phyllanthus niruri) a herb with amazing health benefits and no known side effects

Chanca Piedra is the common name this plant is marketed under while for research purposes I found it necessary to use the scientific name which is Phyllanthus niruri.

In December 2011, Asare and 7 researchers from the University of Ghana studied 3 groups of Sprague-Dawley rats and looked for toxic effects. (1) Recognizing that Chanca Piedra (P. Niruri) has powerful medicinal properties and little existing studies on toxicity, they set up a short term study using the herb at two doses, one low and one high, in female rats. One group received a single dose of an extract of the herb at 2000 mg/kg or body weight and another a single dose at 5000 mg/kg of body weight. The third group was a control.

After 15 days, the 3 groups were sacrificed. They reported that no toxicity was found at the levels used and stated:

"Body organs were harvested for macroscopic examination. Urine and blood samples were drawn and analyzed. Hematological tests performed included full blood count and hemoglobin. Biochemical examinations included bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total protein, albumin, globulin, alkaline phosphatse (ALP), _-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), urea, and creatine. The results of the three groups were not significantly different. Examination of the various body organs did not show any abnormality. Thus no toxicity was observed at the levels administered. The LD50 of the aqueous extract is>5000 mg/kg. b.w."

The authors cited 30 plus medical articles, all from PubMed, on the medicinal benefits of Phyllanthus niruri.

The list includes treating the following conditions:

1. Dissolves kidney stones
2. Treats Malaria
3. HBV and/or HCV (viral hepatitis)
4. Antispasmodic
5. Hypertension (treats high blood pressure)
6. Lowers cholesterol
7. Lowers triglycerides
8. Lowers blood sugar - type II diabetes
9. Protects against chemical toxins
10. Liver cancer - tumorigenesis

India: A 2009 study on the anti-tumor activity of P. Niruri

Sharma P. et al studied the anti tumor effects of a water-alcohol extract of the whole plant on Swiss albino rats for skin cancer. (2) They reported the following:

"Phyllanthus niruri is a well known medicinal plant which has been used in Ayurvedic medicine as hepatoprotective, antiviral, antibacterial, analgesic, antispasmodic, and antidiabetic. The present study was carried out to evaluate the anti-tumor activity of a hydro-alcoholic extract of the whole plant, in 7-9 week old male Swiss albino mice, on the two stage process of skin carcinogenesisŠŠ till the end of experiment (16 weeks).

"The oral administration of P. niruri at a dose of 1000 mg/kg/b.wt. at peri- (i.e. 7 days before and 7 days after DMBA application) and post- (i.e. starting from the croton oil application) initial phase of papillomagenesis caused significant reduction in tumor incidence, tumor yield, tumor burden, and cumulative number of papillomas as compared to carcinogen-treated controls. Furthermore, the average latent period was significantly increased in the PNE treated group. The results thus suggest that P. niruri extract exhibits significant anti-tumor activity, which supports the traditional medicinal utilization of this plant."

Effects of Phyllanthus niruri on HIV

In 2003, two researchers, Naik and Juverar, from the University of Mumbai, India, studied in vitro the anti-hiv effects of P. niruri on infected MT-4 cell lines (4). The study on the HIV infected cell lines was done with an alkaloidal extract of the dried herb from the whole plant, the alkaloidal portion being about 1%.

The researchers found that the P. niruri alkaloid extract has an affinity or preference for the HIV infected cells and that in 4 days, the infected cell lines were all dead. Importantly, they found not found no exivence of toxicity to normal health cells.

The entire article can be found at PubMed at Phyllanthus effects on HIV.

The following is an excerpt from the PubMed:

"The present investigation examines the anti-HIV effects of the alkaloidal extract of Phyllanthus niruri in human cell lines. The inhibitory effect on HIV replication was monitored in terms of inhibition of virus induced cytopathogenecity in MT-4 cells. The alkaloidal extract of Phyllanthus niruri showed suppressing activity on strains of HIV-1 cells cultured on MT-4 cell lines.

"The CC50 for the extract was found to be 279.85 microgmL(-1) whereas the EC50 was found to be 20.98 microgmL(-1). Interestingly the Selectivity Index (SI) was found to be 13.34, which showed a clear selective toxicity of the extract for the viral cells. The alkaloidal extract of Phyllanthus niruri was thus found to exhibit sensitive inhibitory response on cytopathic effects induced by both the strains of human immunodeficiency virus on human MT-4 cells in the tested concentrations."

In a discussion at the end of the article they stated:

"Phyllanthus niruri is the most effective of a group of closely related species that grow in India, China, and tropical locations ranging from the Philippines to Cuba and has been used in folk medicine to treat a variety of maladies particularly its role in viral hepatitis.[2] Scientists have not identified the ingredient responsible for its medicinal effect, but the herb has been shown to block an enzyme that plays a crucial role in reproduction of the hepatitis B virus(HBV).

"Insofar as is known however, only the aqueous extract of Phyllanthus niruri has been proposed to inhibit HIV strains, but then the active constituents responsible for its anti-viral activity have not yet been identified. In the present pharmacological investigation, the alkaloidal extract of Phyllanthus niruri specifically exerted growth inhibition on both the HIV-1 and HIV-2 strains cultured on human MT-4 cells.

"Small amounts of Phtllanthus niruri were found to reduce viral replication while higher concentrations totally inhibited its reproduction. More importantly, with a higher selectivity index, the alkaloidal extract was non-toxic to the human cells at concentrations stopping viral replication. Based on these research findings, it would be optimistic to analyse the utilization of the alkaloidal extract of Phyllanthus niruri in alleviating immune-linked life-threatening diseases like AIDS on account of its promising anti-HIV activity.

Phyllanthus Niruri for Hepatitis B

Wei W, LiX, Wang K, Zheng Z, and Zhou M from the University of Guangxi in Nanning, China published findings on lignans found about Chanca Piedra (Phyllanthus Niruri) that stopped HBV replication. The article (5) published in Phytotherapy Research is titled "Lignans with anti-hepatitis B virus activities from Phyllanthus niruri." The abstract states:

"One new lignan, nirtetralin B, along with its two known stereoisomers were isolated from Phyllanthus niruri L. The structure of the new compound was determined by spectroscopy experiments and x-ray diffraction analysis. These lignans were assayed for anti-hepatitis B virus activities in vitro. Nirtetralin and nirtetralin A, B effectively suppressed the secretion of the HBV antigens in a dose-dependent manner with IC__ values for HBsAg of 9.5_µM (nirtetralin A), 16.7_µM (nirtetralin B) and 97.2_µM (nirtetralin), IC__ values for HBeAg of 17.4_µM (nirtetralin A), 69.3_µM (nirtetralin B) and 232.0_µM (nirtetralin), respectively.

Effects of Phyllanthus niruri on hepatitis B and woodchuck hepatitis viruses: in vitro and in vivo studies

This 1987 study was done by Venkateswaran, Millman and Blumberg at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Phildelphia, PA. This study is now 25 years old but is relevant in light of current case reports posted at earthclininc.com that the use is this herb has cleared the hepatitis B virus in a majority of users in as little as 3 weeks. The PNAS study found that P. niruri had beneficial effects on both acute and long-term chronic cases.

The researchers noted that the use of P. niruri has had a long history of use in southern India and elsewhere for the treatment of jaundice, a condition of yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes caused by an elevated liver enzyme.

The in-vitro studies (done in a lab) found the effect of P. niruri on the woodchuck hepatitis antigen and HBV antigen was dependent on the concentration of the herbal extract used. At 5 mg per ml, the percent of direct inhibition of anti-HBs binding was 63%. The study was done on the woodchuck hepatitis virus (WHV) because the researchers noted the similarity of the woodchuck hepatitis virus to human Hepatitis B virus (HBV).

In an in vivo experiment using 0.5 ml derived from 9 mg dry weight of P. niruri injected subcutaneously on woodchucks chronically infected with WHS, it proved ineffective. However, when the method of administering the P Niruri extract was changed to i.p (into the stomach), two of the five treated animals showed a drop in WHsAg about 60 days after switching to i.p. administration.

Of 3 in-vivo experiments using P. niruri on woodchucks infected with the hepatitis virus, they stated:

"The extract of P. niruri was tested in three independent in vivo experiments in woodchuck carriers. In the first, with long-term carriers, a significant drop in the titer of WHsAg was observed in the extract-treated animals compared to the control.

"In the second, using short-term carriers, the WHsAg and WHV DNAp in three of four treated animals became undetectable and stayed that way even after the treatment was terminated, while the levels of these markers stayed high in the controls. These results indicated a possible break in the carrier state directly attributable to the treatment with P. niruri extract.

"The conclusion from the third experiment was that the extract was not effective when administered subcutaneously. However, on switching the mode of administration to i.p., two out of three extract-treated animals showed a drop in WHsAg titer."

Earth clinic reports on Chanca Piedra (Phyllanthus niruri)

An interactive website, earthclinic.com, with worldwide participants, has several fascinating reports and positive reports about the health benefits of Chanca Piedra (Phyllanthus Niruri) for treating kidney stones and viral hepatitis B. Some postings of what is being said at this website are:

03/12/2012: Max from Commerce Township, Michigan replies:

"My HbDNA was always very low, last couple of times, it was undetectable, but was still present. When I noticed that my DNA changes, goes up and down, I started paying more attention what I take and what I eat.

"First time, when it became undetectable, I was drinking chanca piedra tea. Couple times a day simmered about 15 minutes. I used dried herbs. Later I stopped and the DNA went up a little bit. Two months before my tests, I started taking salvia/ligustrum.

"My doctor did not know what my results meant. I do not know either, I do not know if I am recovering and one day I will become immune to the virus. I am still taking salvia. When I am done, I will go back to chanca piedra. I also take astragalus. This herb raises our own interferon that is in our bodies. Astragalus is to build immunity."

A second posting -

04/21/2012: Steve11269 from Bangkok, Thailand replies:

"I've had hep b for almost 5 months. Chanca piedra (phyllanthus niruri) was about the only hope I had outside of Lamivudine which I despise because the virus can mutate. Chanca piedra killed the majority of the virus but it does have one side effect - it can lower blood pressure drastically over time. Just thought I would share my experience when making the tea from chanca piedra. I have learned that by letting the mixture sit overnight to cool, it becomes much stronger. I just ordered the Salvia/Ligustrum tablets and hope fully I will be rid of this disease. Thanks to Max from Michigan :)"

Note: To more info, go to Earth Clinic. Chanca Piedra has reportedly been used for HCV also. Two readers recommended 1000 mg of the powdered herb with meals 3 times a day. (i.e. capsules). If tea is preferred, keep temperature lukewarm (140 degrees F or less) so as not to damage the plants medicinal properties.

Abstract from the "Journal of Viral Hepatitis" vol 8 issue 5 (2001) by J. Liu1, H. Lin2, H. McIntosh

This abstracts is a review that provides very convincing scientific evidence which supports the use of Phyllanthus in the treatment of hepatitis -

"To evaluate the efficacy and safety of genus Phyllanthus for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection we performed a systematic review of randomized clinical trials. Randomized trials comparing genus Phyllanthus vs. placebo, no intervention, general nonspecific treatment, other herbal medicine, or interferon treatment for chronic HBV infection were identified by electronic and manual searches.

"Trials of Phyllanthus herb plus interferon (IFN) vs. IFN alone were also included. No blinding and language limitations were applied. The methodological quality of trials was assessed by the Jadad scale plus allocation concealment. Twenty-two randomized trials (n=1947) were identified. The methodological quality was high in five double-blind trials and low in the 17 remaining trials.

"The combined results showed that Phyllanthus species had positive effect on clearance of serum HBsAg (relative risk 5.64, 95% CI 1.85-17.21) compared with placebo or no intervention. There was no significant difference on clearance of serum HBsAg, HBeAg and HBV DNA between Phyllanthus and IFN.

"Phyllanthus species were better than nonspecific treatment or other herbal medicines for the clearance of serum HBsAg, HBeAg, HBV DNA, and liver enzyme normalization. Analyses showed a better effect of the Phyllanthus plus IFN combination on clearance of serum HBeAg (1.56, 1.06-2.32) and HBV DNA (1.52, 1.05-2.21) than IFN alone.

"No serious adverse event was reported. Based on this review, Phyllanthus species may have positive effect on antiviral activity and liver biochemistry in chronic HBV infection.

Dr. Plechner D.V.M.

Our interview with Dr Alfred Plechner DVM on the role of estrogen, hydrocortisone and thyroid hormone in the health of felines and canines was published in the first edition of the Immune Restoration Handbook in 2003.

Plechner reported that he tested his theories on thousands of pets over a 30 year period and cured many of advanced stages of cancer and other illnesses. He used high doses of anti-inflammatory steroids prednisone or prednisolone etc (synthetic versions of natural hydrocortisone) in conjunction with thyroid hormones, and a hypoallergenic diet.

Subsequently, we published research that shows the powerful effects of hydrocortisone and their synthetic counterparts in suppressing interleukin 6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF). Both TNF and IL-6 are inflammatory cytokines implicated in promoting cancer and progression of HIV to AIDS.

Around 2006, Plechner retired to Idaho. A few years later, he emerged from retirement and went back into an active practice in the Los Angeles area. He has since authored a number of books including the following -

*Against all Odds, Given up for Dead
*Fifty Years of Healing
*Endocrine-Immune Mechanisms in Animal and Human Health
*Pets at Risk from Allergies to Cancer
*Pet Allergies - Remedies for an Epidemic

Dr Plechner's website is worth visiting for a full range of articles he has published that are free for the viewing and reading. Has research on Calcium Montmorillinite for treating kidney (renal) failure contains priceless information. There are distinct differences between Sodium Bentonite was used in V. E. In Memoriam - Stella LeBeau 1914 to 2012

(photo taken in 2010)

by Conrad LeBeau.

On September 12th, I visited my mother for the last time and anointed her with a few drops of the Miraculous Water from San Damiano and placed a Blessed Cloth on her forehead. My brother, Jim, who lives nearby, stayed with her for several hours. The following day, September 13th, Jim visited our mother and said she was not conscious and was half way to the other side. Stella (the name means star), at age 98, passed peacefully into eternal life on September 14th 2012.

She was last surviving daughter of Adolf and Marie Forgette. She had 7 siblings - Al, Joe, Fil, Ted, Martha, Clair, and Millie. Stella is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. LeBeau.

After moving to the City of South Milwaukee, WI from a small dairy farm in Upper Michigan in 1960, she found various jobs working in restaurants as a cook and waiter including the Cafeteria at the Milwaukee Public Museum.

She was a loving and caring mother and is survived by her five sons - Gary, Jim, Conrad, Robert, and Randy plus many grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Michigan, and California.

Stella enjoyed life, was outgoing and friendly, loved to sing, and liked everyone she met. She will be dearly missed. Services were held in Nadeau, MI on September 20th. Stella was buried next to her husband at St Bruno's Parish in Nadeau.

Note: In her writings, Mama Rosa, the seer of San Damiano, Italy, said the Virgin Mary asked that the Blessed Water of San Damiano be brought to the sick and dying who would receive many spiritual benefits. Lisa Custodio who distributed the Blessed Water for many years told me some time ago that persons who receive the water have a peaceful death. By an account of a nurse who was present, Stella's death was peaceful.

FDA v Conrad LeBeau update

On August 7th, Magistrate Callahan fined the defendant $100 plus a $25 special assessment and added one year's probation. In announcing the sentence, Judge Callahan stated he was offended by a statement published at Keep Hope Alive in January 2012 that compared the fine in the January plea agreement to a traffic ticket. He then ordered the defendant to perform 40 hours of community service. The sentence he found offensive was deleted from the website later that day and an apology was offered.

The corporation, Vital Health Products, out of business, assets, and dissolved since August 2010, will not appeal the $525 fine and special assessment. More explicit comments on what happened at the August 7th hearing are being withheld at this time. The entire case is on file at www.pacer.gov Search case no. 10-CR-253

A Notice of Appeal of the final Order prepared by Federal Attorney Joanna Perini was filed with the Clerk of Courts on August 15th 2012.

On August 20th, the case was assigned for judicial review to United States District Judge Charles Clevert of Milwaukee, WI. Because the case was a misdemeanor criminal proceeding that was decided by a Magistrate judge (who is not an Article III judge), it must be reviewed by a United States District Judge before an appeal can be filed to the 7th Circuit Court in Chicago.

It could take several months for a decision to be made. Judge Clevert (1) will be reviewing over 80 documents filed in this case that span almost two years of legal proceedings and total several hundred pages.

U.S. District Judge Charles Clevert was appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1996. He was confirmed by a voice vote of the U.S. Senate. Judge Clevert is now a senior judge at 65 years of age. Judges frequently like to make decisions on outstanding legal cases before the end of December each year. Everyone is asked to pray for a just outcome in this case as the appeal process begins.
